Dubai International Airport officially launched the “Click and Travel” immigration service on September 7, 2026. The service enables passengers to complete immigration entry or departure procedures at the airport in approximately 12 to 15 seconds using mobile handheld devices operated by passport officers.
Technology Enables 12-15 Second Immigration Checks
Click and Travel integrates biometric fingerprint scanning, facial recognition, electronic passport reading, automated pre-screening, and instant access to passenger records over a secure network. Instead of requiring passengers to queue at fixed booths, immigration officers use handheld devices to process travelers on the spot, wherever they are located in the airport terminal.
Pilot Program Processed Over 31,000 Passengers
The system was piloted starting
October 2025 at Terminal 3 of Dubai International Airport. In May 2026, the pilot expanded to cover all passenger categories across all terminals. During the pilot phase from October 2025 to August 2026, more than 31,000 passengers were processed using Click and Travel, providing data to support the official rollout.
Mobile Officers Improve Congestion Management
The mobility of passport officers using handheld devices allows immigration staff to move through arrival and departure halls, processing passengers directly and reallocating resources to areas with high congestion. This flexibility helps manage surges caused by delayed flights or peak travel periods without passengers needing to form long lines at
fixed counters.
Service Available to UAE Citizens, Residents, GCC Nationals, and Visitors
Click and Travel is accessible to all passenger categories, including UAE citizens, residents, GCC nationals, and visitors. The General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs Dubai (GDRFA) operates the service. The official launch was announced during a press conference led by Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri and Major General Talal Ahmed Al Shanqiti.
Supports Dubai’s Smart Technology and Airport Growth Goals
The introduction of Click and Travel aligns with Dubai’s ongoing initiative to integrate smart technology into government services. It supports Dubai International Airport’s broader plan to accommodate over 100 million passengers annually within 18 months, providing the necessary infrastructure for faster passenger processing and
improved operational efficiency.
