Dubai International Airport launched the ‘Click and Travel’ mobile immigration service on September 7, 2026. The system allows passport officers to complete passenger entry or departure procedures in approximately 12 to 15 seconds using handheld devices that integrate biometric fingerprint technology, facial recognition, and electronic passport reading with automated pre-screening and instant access to passenger records.
The service was piloted starting October 2025 at Terminal 3, processing more than 31,000 passengers by the end of August 2026. The pilot’s success led to an expansion in May 2026, extending the system to all passenger categories across Dubai International Airport’s terminals. Mobile
passport officers are no longer confined to fixed counters and can move through arrival and departure halls to manage congestion dynamically.
‘Click and Travel’ is available to UAE citizens, residents, GCC nationals, and visitors. This mobility feature reduces passenger waiting times and queues, allowing travelers to clear immigration on the spot without needing to proceed to fixed counters.
The system supports Dubai International Airport’s growth plans as the airport is on track to exceed 100 million annual passengers within the next 18 months. The adoption of biometric and automated pre-screening technology by the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs
(GDRFA) Dubai is part of broader efforts to integrate smart technology into government and airport operations.
Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri and Major General Talal Ahmed Al Shanqiti led the press conference announcing the official launch of ‘Click and Travel.’ Dubai International Airport’s CEO stated the airport is on track to handle over 100 million passengers annually, emphasizing the importance of such infrastructure upgrades to efficiently manage increasing passenger volumes.
