InterContinental Hotels Group PLC (IHG Hotels & Resorts) and Australian developer ALAND signed a Master Development Agreement on 9 September 2026 granting ALAND exclusive rights to develop the Staybridge Suites extended-stay hotel brand in Australia.
The agreement sets a development target of at least 15 Staybridge Suites hotels nationwide, accounting for a minimum of 2,000 rooms. This establishes a long-term pipeline for the brand’s growth across the country.
The first two franchise agreements under the deal cover Staybridge Suites Sydney Parramatta, featuring 130 rooms, and Staybridge Suites Sydney Leppington, with 112 rooms. Both hotels will be managed by Signature Hotel
Management Group and represent the initial phase of the Australian portfolio.
Greater Western Sydney was selected for the initial hotels due to its expanding commercial and residential infrastructure. Parramatta is a major commercial center in Sydney, while Leppington is situated near the Western Sydney International Airport and the developing Aerotropolis, supporting demand for extended-stay accommodations.
Staybridge Suites currently has 355 hotels open globally with an additional 152 in development as of June 2026. The brand focuses on upscale extended stays, combining residential-style suites with hotel services for guests staying multiple days or weeks.
Matt Tripolone, Managing Director Australasia & Pacific
for IHG Hotels & Resorts, described the agreement as a significant long-term development, highlighting ALAND’s substantial development capabilities and the shared vision to grow the extended-stay segment nationally. Andrew Hrsto, Founder and CEO of ALAND, said the deal advances their partnership and establishes a new accommodation platform across Australia.
IHG operates over 1 million rooms across 7,000 hotels in more than 100 countries, with a development pipeline of 2,400 properties. ALAND, an Australian-owned development company, has over two decades of experience, a 100% delivery success rate, and a pipeline exceeding 6,500 apartments, covering residential, retail, hospitality, and hotel projects.
