Spotlight Travel Expo marked 26 consecutive years as a key B2B platform for Africa’s travel trade with its Nairobi edition from September 1 to 3, 2026. The event attracted more than 350 travel professionals and over 50 exhibitors.

Nairobi Edition Attracts Diverse Kenyan Regions

The Nairobi expo featured scheduled business meetings, product showcases, networking sessions, and prize draws aimed at maximizing commercial engagement. Travel agents traveled from Kenyan regions including the Coast, Kisumu, and Eldoret to participate.

Spotlight’s Role in Africa’s MICE Economy

Spotlight Travel Expo operates within the broader Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) economy, where events are measured by business outcomes rather than mere attendance. Globally, business events drew

1.65 billion participants in 2025 and generated $1.3 trillion in direct spending. Africa’s business-events market involved 80.6 million participants with $23.4 billion in direct spending and supported about 328,000 direct jobs. Kenya ranked third in Africa for hosting 21 international association meetings in 2023.

Pan-African Growth and Multi-City Impact

Over 26 years, Spotlight Travel Expo has staged more than 150 editions across over 15 African cities, connecting thousands of travel professionals. Houston Travel Marketing Services founder Derek Houston has led this platform with the goal of promoting Pan-African travel and enhancing intra-continental trade connections.

Expansion to Mombasa Scheduled for November 2026

The Spotlight Travel Expo will expand within Kenya with its first

event in Mombasa on November 26, 2026. This new edition is intended to extend the B2B trade-show format to Kenya’s coastal market, offering additional opportunities for local and regional travel industry stakeholders to engage.
