Morocco received 14.1 million tourists by the end of August 2026, setting a new record for the month with more than 2 million arrivals in August alone, according to the Morocco Ministry of Tourism.

Tourist Arrivals Show Year-on-Year Growth

The total arrivals represent a 4.5% increase compared to August 2025, an addition of 608,000 tourists. The August 2026 arrivals increased by 3% year-on-year, establishing the highest number of tourists recorded in a single August.

Government Cites Roadmap and Future Plans

Minister Fatim-Zahra Ammor attributed the growth to targeted investments outlined in the 2023-2026 tourism development roadmap. She stated, “The 2023-2026 roadmap had showcased that investing in a well-targetted manner in key

levers yields results in terms of both the flow and socio-economic impact.” Ammor added that the next phase aims to broaden these benefits to additional regions and tourism stakeholders.

The Ministry links the record-breaking arrivals to the ongoing summer season and consistent levels of tourist activity throughout the year. The government views the sustained increase as a measure of success in its strategic plan for expanding the tourism sector across Morocco.
