Morocco received 14.1 million tourists by the end of August 2026, representing a 4.5% year-on-year increase with 608,000 more visitors compared to the previous year, according to data from the Ministry of Tourism.

For the first time, August 2026 saw tourist arrivals exceed 2 million in a single month, a 3% increase over August 2025. The Ministry attributed this growth to the summer season combined with sustained tourist activity throughout the period.

Government Strategy and Official Comments

The Ministry of Tourism attributes the rise in arrivals to the 2023-2026 government roadmap focused on targeted investments in key tourism levers. Minister Fatim-Zahra Ammor stated, “The 2023-2026

roadmap had showcased that investing in a well-targetted manner in key levers yields results in terms of both the flow and socio-economic impact.” She added that the next phase aims to broaden benefits for additional regions and tourism-sector stakeholders.
