Thailand will terminate its 60-day visa exemption for select travelers starting September 15, 2026. The Tourism Authority of Thailand announced that new visa-free periods of 30 and 15 days will replace the previous policy, along with updates to the visa-on-arrival scheme.
Affected Countries and Visa Eligibility
Under the revised policy, nationals from 60 countries and territories can enter Thailand without a visa for up to 30 days. This list includes Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, among other countries across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. Moroccan citizens lose their eligibility for visa-free entry and will no longer qualify for the
30-day exemption effective September 15, 2026, after having previously received 60-day visa-free stays.
Citizens of Seychelles and Mauritius will now qualify for 15-day visa-free stays. Meanwhile, travelers from Azerbaijan, Belarus, and Serbia will be eligible to obtain visas on arrival.
Land Border Entry Restrictions
Thailand introduced new restrictions on land border crossings for travelers eligible for the 30-day visa exemption. Such travelers can enter Thailand via land borders twice per calendar year. However, exceptions to this limit apply for citizens of Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia, Singapore, and other nationalities designated by the Thai Interior Ministry.
Policy Review and Bilateral Agreements
The updated visa exemptions follow a review initiated by the
Tourism Authority of Thailand in May 2026. The Interior Ministry published formal announcements in the Royal Thai Government Gazette on August 31, 2026. Bilateral agreements permitting visa-free entry for 90, 30, or 14 days remain effective depending on the countries involved. These agreements are separate from the new 30- and 15-day visa-free periods.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand recommends travelers verify entry requirements specific to their nationality before traveling, as the revised regulations will come into force on September 15, 2026.
