The Tourism Section of Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism launched consultancies on August 31, 2026, to develop a Global Promotional Campaign Road Map and the National Tourism Strategic Plan for 2026–2030. The event took place at the Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (SLITHM) auditorium with support from the World Bank’s Grant Facility for Project Preparation (GFPP).
Tourism Strategic Goals and Targets
The dual initiatives aim to create an international promotion framework and define a five-year strategy to transform Sri Lanka’s tourism sector into a high-growth model. The government has set a target of 2.7 million tourist arrivals
and $4.2 billion in revenue for 2026. For 2027, targets exceed 3 million visitors with $5 billion in revenue.
The long-term objective is to increase tourism earnings to $10 billion by 2030 through these strategic developments and global promotional partnerships, according to Adaderana Biz English | Sri Lanka Business News.
