Vietnam’s tourism destinations and businesses have launched a range of new products and activities in preparation for the 2026 National Day holiday, focusing on quality and safety for visitors. The sector is expanding offerings from traditional sightseeing and resorts to include cultural, heritage, community, and nature-based experiences.

Top Booked Destinations and Emerging Travel Trends

The Traveloka SEA Index published on August 11, 2026, identified Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, Con Dao, and Phu Quoc as the five most-booked destinations by Vietnamese tourists during the second quarter and for the upcoming National Day holiday.

Consumer demand is shifting beyond resort stays, with a growing interest in

local culture, cuisine, art programs, festivals, museums, craft villages, and community activities. This diversification is prompting destinations to refresh tourism products and extend visitor stays.

Cultural Festivals and Exhibitions Scheduled for the Holiday

Several high-profile cultural events are slated for the holiday period. The “Hoi An Memories” show, featuring its “Flag Hat” version, will run from August 26 to September 2, 2026, in Da Nang. Phu Quoc will host “The Memory of Flowers” exhibition, while Thanh Hoa province will conduct the Sam Son Kite Festival 2026 from August 30 to September 1 at Sam Son Beach.

Additionally, Moc Chau Culture and Tourism Week 2026 is scheduled between August

27 and September 5, offering cultural, artistic, and community-based activities. These events coincide with celebrations marking the 81st anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day, encouraging heritage and “return-to-the-roots” tours emphasized by the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism.

Visitor Growth and Tourism Revenue Performance

Hanoi recorded 18.01 million visitors in the first half of 2026, reflecting a 15.7% year-on-year increase. International arrivals rose by 26.8%, and tourism revenue climbed 19.1% over the same period. On July 7, Hanoi welcomed its five-millionth international visitor of the year.

Vietnam as a whole registered nearly 12.3 million international tourists in H1 2026, marking a 14.9% rise year-on-year. The

tourism sector aims to attract 25 million international visitors and 150 million domestic tourists in 2026, with projected revenue of approximately 1.125 quadrillion VND (equivalent to 43 billion USD).

Safety, Service Quality, and Infrastructure for Holiday Tourism

The Vietnam National Authority of Tourism has instructed local authorities to ensure safe, secure services and maintain high service standards throughout the holiday season and beyond. Coordination with police, health, and transport agencies is mandated to preserve public order, traffic safety, fire prevention, and disaster response.

Visitor flow regulation at major tourist sites is required to prevent overcrowding and congestion. Tourism providers must improve food hygiene, environmental safeguards, fire prevention, and

service quality, with strict penalties for violations. Accommodation and service businesses must display prices transparently, including room rates, surcharges, promotions, and cancellation policies.

Destination Enhancements and Year-End Outlook

Ninh Binh province is upgrading visitor experiences at Tam Coc-Bich Dong by adding blooming water lilies, improving landscapes, sanitation, staffing, and signage. Ninh Binh hosts over 70 tourism sites and approximately 1,500 accommodations with 23,000 rooms, preparing additional staff and supplies for peak seasons.

Other key locations such as Hanoi, Sa Pa, Quang Ninh, Da Nang, and Phu Quoc have reinforced infrastructure, refreshed tourism products, and enhanced safety and sanitation measures ahead of the National Day holiday.

Tourists are advised to prefer licensed travel companies and obtain travel insurance, avoiding unregulated self-organized tours often promoted by individual influencers and key opinion leaders. Vietnam’s tourism authorities expect an acceleration in activity towards the end of the year, supporting the 2026 targets.
