Sri Lanka Launches 2026–2030 Tourism Roadmap with New Promotion Partners

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism in Sri Lanka officially launched consultancies for the Global Promotional Campaign Road Map and the National Tourism Strategic Plan for the period 2026–2030 on August 31, 2026. The launch event and press briefing took place at the Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management auditorium and was supported by the World Bank’s Grant Facility for Project Preparation.

Tourism Roadmap and Growth Targets

The strategic roadmap outlines a five-year plan aimed at transforming Sri Lanka’s tourism sector into a high-growth model. For 2026, the plan sets a target of 2.7 million tourist arrivals generating $4.2 billion

in revenue. The following year, 2027, aims to attract over 3 million visitors and achieve $5 billion in tourism income. The long-term goal is to increase tourism earnings to $10 billion by 2030.

Background and Institutional Support

The roadmap and promotion campaign form part of a coordinated governmental effort to define clear strategic direction and enhance international marketing of Sri Lanka’s tourism sector. These initiatives received financial and technical support from the World Bank’s Grant Facility for Project Preparation. The engagement of global promotional consultancies was intended to strengthen Sri Lanka’s tourism marketing on the international stage.
