According to the Traveloka SEA Index released on August 11, 2026, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, Con Dao, and Phu Quoc are the top five destinations booked by Vietnamese travelers during the second quarter and for the holiday period. The tourism sector is responding to a shift in traveler preferences towards cultural, heritage, nature, and community-focused experiences.
Scheduled Cultural and Artistic Events
Several cultural programs will occur nationwide during the holiday. Da Nang will host the “Hoi
An Memories” show in its “Flag Hat” version from August 26 to September 2, 2026. Phu Quoc will feature “The Memory of Flowers” exhibition. Focus on Historical and Heritage Tourism
Vietnam commemorates the 81st anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day during this period, intensifying tourism related to historical and revolutionary traditions. The Vietnam National Authority of Tourism has urged local authorities to organize commemorative
events and develop heritage tours emphasizing the country’s history and cultural roots.
Tourism Statistics and National Targets
Hanoi recorded 18.01 million visitors in the first half of 2026, representing a 15.7% year-on-year increase. International arrivals in the capital surged by 26.8%, with tourism revenue rising 19.1% during the same period. Hanoi welcomed its five-millionth international visitor on July 7, 2026. Across Vietnam, international arrivals reached nearly 12.3 million in the first six months, up 14.9%. The country aims to attract 25 million international tourists and 150 million domestic travelers in 2026, generating approximately 1.125 quadrillion VND (43 billion USD) in tourism revenue.
Infrastructure and Service Enhancements
Localities including Ninh
Binh are advancing visitor experiences by upgrading attractions such as Tam Coc-Bich Dong with blooming water lilies, improving environmental sanitation, adding staff, and installing additional directional signage. Ninh Binh hosts over 70 tourism sites and about 1,500 accommodation establishments with approximately 23,000 rooms. Major destinations like Sa Pa, Quang Ninh, Da Nang, and Phu Quoc are also strengthening infrastructure, sanitation, security, and product offerings for the upcoming peak period.
Regulatory Measures and Visitor Guidance
The Vietnam National Authority of Tourism mandated that tourism authorities ensure adequate visitor conditions with a focus on security, safety, and service quality. Coordination with police, health, and transport agencies is
to maintain public order, traffic safety, fire prevention, and readiness for natural disasters. Visitor flows at key sites will be regulated to avoid overcrowding. Tourism service providers must improve food safety, environmental protection, and fire prevention, with strict handling of violations. Businesses are required to display room rates, service charges, surcharges, promotions, and cancellation policies transparently, providing services at advertised prices and agreed quality.
Tourists are advised to avoid unlicensed self-organized tours promoted by individuals or social media figures and to select licensed travel companies. Obtaining travel insurance is encouraged to mitigate risks during the holiday period.
Vietnam’s tourism sector
anticipates continued growth through the National Day holiday, supported by new cultural programs, infrastructure improvements, and heightened regulatory oversight to ensure quality and safety for increasing visitor numbers.
