Vietnamese tourism destinations and businesses are introducing new products and activities while increasing preparations to ensure safety and service quality for travelers during the upcoming National Day holiday.
According to the Traveloka SEA Index released on August 11, the five most booked destinations by Vietnamese travelers for the second quarter and National Day holiday are Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, Con Dao, and Phu Quoc. Travel trends show growing interest in cultural experiences such as local cuisine, arts, festivals, museums, craft villages, and community activities, expanding beyond traditional sightseeing and beach resorts.
Cultural Events and Heritage Tourism for National Day
Several cultural and artistic programs are
scheduled during the National Day holiday. Da Nang will host the “Hoi An Memories” show in its “Flag Hat” version from August 26 to September 2. Phu Quoc will present “The Memory of Flowers” exhibition, while Thanh Hoa will organize the Sam Son Kite Festival 2026 from August 30 to September 1. Moc Chau Culture and Tourism Week 2026 will run from August 27 to September 5, focusing on cultural, artistic, and community-based activities. Vietnam’s 81st anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day will also boost heritage and revolutionary history-themed tourism, with the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT)
encouraging heritage tours emphasizing historical and cultural values.
Visitor Growth and Destination Upgrades
Hanoi recorded 18.01 million visitors in the first half of 2026, marking a 15.7% year-on-year increase, with international arrivals up 26.8% and tourism revenue rising 19.1%. The city welcomed its five-millionth international visitor on July 7. Ninh Binh province has enhanced visitor experiences at Tam Coc-Bich Dong by introducing blooming water lilies as a new attraction, improving landscapes, sanitation, increasing staff, and adding directional signage. Ninh Binh has over 70 tourism sites and about 1,500 accommodation establishments with roughly 23,000 rooms preparing staff and operational plans for the holiday season.
Major destinations
including Hanoi, Sa Pa, Quang Ninh, Da Nang, and Phu Quoc are also upgrading infrastructure, refreshing tourism products, and reinforcing measures for security, environmental sanitation, and service quality ahead of the peak travel period.
Regulations and Safety Measures for Holiday Tourism
The Vietnam National Authority of Tourism has directed local authorities in centrally run cities and provinces to guarantee visitor safety, public order, food safety, fire prevention, and environmental protection during the National Day holiday and the remainder of 2026. Authorities will regulate visitor flows at major sites to prevent overcrowding. Tourism providers are required to display transparent pricing, including room rates, surcharges, promotions, refund and cancellation
policies, and deliver services at advertised quality. Tourists are cautioned against unregulated self-organized tours promoted by individuals, KOLs, and KOCs, and advised to use licensed travel companies and to consider travel insurance.
National Tourism Growth Targets for 2026
Vietnam posted a 14.9% increase in international visitors during the first six months of 2026, reaching nearly 12.3 million arrivals. The government aims to attract 25 million international visitors and 150 million domestic tourists in 2026, generating approximately 1.125 quadrillion VND (43 billion USD) in tourism revenue by year-end.
