The World Travel Expo marked its 10th anniversary in Cebu with a three-day event from August 14 to 16, 2026, held at Ayala Center Cebu. The expo, themed “Xtraordinary Journeys, Xceptional Memories,” serves as a platform connecting destinations, travel opportunities, and experiences worldwide.

Role of Ad Asia Events Group OPC and Cebu Tourism Growth

Established by Ad Asia Events Group OPC, the World Travel Expo supports tourism businesses and destinations by providing exposure, fostering partnerships, and facilitating market reach. Managing Director Miles Caballero, founder of the expo, stated the event was created to discover new destinations and build meaningful travel connections.

Tourism’s Economic Impact in Cebu

Mia Faye D. Singson-Leon, president of the Heart of Cebu

Residents and Artisans Council (HRRAC), highlighted that tourism in Cebu connects to the island’s economic lifeline beyond hotel bookings and airline tickets. She said, “Because tourism is not just an industry that stands alone. Our tourism is connected to the economic lifeline of this island. A visitor who comes to Cebu creates value far beyond a hotel booking or an airline ticket.” The OIC-Regional Director of Department of Tourism Region VII encouraged travelers to “bring home at least one visitor,” emphasizing tourism reciprocity to sustain momentum in inbound tourism.

Visitor Engagement and Travel Planning

Visitors engaged with resorts, tour operators, airlines, and local travel agencies,

directly consulting travel experts to compare destinations and customize packages. Exclusive event-only perks included staycation savings, extended voucher validity, and special bundled passes for family attractions and dining, enabling comprehensive trip planning in one location.

Support for Local Communities and MICE Growth

The expo supports local livelihoods such as tour guides, transport drivers, eateries, and handicraft artists in Central Visayas. Provincial Tourism Officer Rowena ‘Weng’ Montecillo said the event has “provided an important platform for Cebu to showcase its diverse tourism offerings, connect with potential markets, build partnerships, and create opportunities for our local tourism enterprises and communities.” The event also bolsters Cebu’s position as a hub

for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE), combining leisure and corporate tourism.

World Travel Expo’s Role in Philippine Tourism

The World Travel Expo plays a key role in the growth and vibrancy of Philippine tourism by fostering partnerships and expanding market connections. Caballero stated, “This 10-year celebration is a reminder that the best journeys are never created alone. They are shaped by people who come together with a common purpose and a shared belief in what can be achieved.” The expo promotes sustainable tourism development and highlights Cebu as a vital player in Philippine tourism.
