Delta Air Lines will begin nonstop service between Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) and Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) on March 27, 2027. This new route represents the first direct flight option between Austin and Paris.
Delta’s Growth and Investments in Austin
Delta employs 3,200 people across Texas and has increased its presence in Austin by 900% over the past decade. It operates 32 routes from Austin and recently opened a flight attendant base in the city. The airline plans to open a new Delta Sky Club and the first-ever Delta One lounge outside a hub at Austin-Bergstrom.
Officials Highlight Austin’s Transformation
Joe Esposito, Delta’s executive vice president and chief
commercial officer, stated, “As you’ve grown your city, we have taken notice of your trends — and we want to be a part of it.” Delta President Peter Carter emphasized the airline’s strong growth in Austin over the last decade. U.S. Senator Ted Cruz, present at the announcement, called the launch a “big damn deal” and described Austin’s evolution from 1957 to becoming a powerful tech hub akin to Silicon Valley. Austin-Bergstrom CEO Ghizlane Badawi noted the new route reflects the strength and expanding demand of the Central Texas region.
Traveler Benefits and Regional Connectivity
The nonstop flights will reduce travel time for passengers by
eliminating layovers. The new service provides Austin travelers direct access to Paris and convenient onward connections throughout Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia, including India, where demand from Central Texas is significant, according to Austin-Bergstrom leadership.
Austin-Bergstrom Airport’s Expanding Role
Delta is the second-largest carrier at Austin-Bergstrom behind Southwest Airlines, expanding its passenger numbers nearly 15% between 2024 and 2025. The airport continues to grow to meet rising regional and international travel demand, with Delta investing in lounges and staffing to support this growth.
