Delta Air Lines announced on August 13, 2026, the launch of a new nonstop flight route from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) to Paris, beginning March 27, 2027. This will be the first nonstop service between Austin and Paris, marking a significant expansion of international options for travelers in the Central Texas region.

Delta’s Expansion in Austin and Texas

Delta is the second-largest airline at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, behind Southwest Airlines. The airline has experienced significant growth in the Austin market, increasing its passenger count by nearly 15% from 2024 to 2025 and growing 900% over the past decade. Delta employs 3,200 people across Texas and has

recently established a flight attendant base in Austin, reflecting its expanding operational footprint in the state.

Official Statements on the New Route

Joe Esposito, Delta’s executive vice president and chief commercial officer, said, “As you’ve grown your city, we have taken notice of your trends — and we want to be a part of it.” Delta President Peter Carter highlighted the airline’s growth in Texas and Austin. Austin-Bergstrom CEO Ghizlane Badawi underscored the importance of the new route for the region, stating it provides “greater access to the world with convenient connections throughout Europe, Africa, the Middle East, South Asia, including India.”

U.S. Senator Ted Cruz,

present at the announcement, characterized the new flight as a “big damn deal” and said, “What is happening in Austin today is incredible. It is powerful. Austin is becoming Silicon Valley.” He added that the investment represents jobs and connectivity vital to Austin’s continued growth across various industries.

Traveler Impact and Airport Investment

The nonstop Austin-Paris route will offer Central Texas travelers direct international access to Europe and beyond. To support the increased traffic, Delta is investing in airport infrastructure at AUS, planning to open a new Delta Sky Club and the first Delta One lounge outside a Delta hub. These facilities aim to improve

the passenger experience for Delta customers at the airport.
