Carnival Cruise Line launched its first solar eclipse cruise on August 9, 2026, sailing from Dover, England, aboard the Carnival Legend. The 11-day Carnival Journeys itinerary featured ports in Spain, Portugal, Belgium, and France. On August 12, the ship passed through the total solar eclipse’s path of totality, allowing guests direct sea-based views of the astronomical event.
Passengers observed the total solar eclipse from the Carnival Legend’s deck using specially provided eclipse-viewing glasses. The cruise included themed entertainment, beverage options, and programming centered on the eclipse to enhance the guest experience during the voyage.

Journeys, a series of extended itineraries designed to combine destination visits with unique onboard experiences. Building on the 2026 event, Carnival scheduled three additional solar eclipse cruises in 2027. Carnival Firenze will depart Buenos Aires on February 2, 2027, for a 16-day sailing timed with an annular solar eclipse on February 6. The itinerary includes stops in Rio de Janeiro, Maceio, Grenada, Martinique, and St. Maarten. Carnival Sunshine’s 10-day Mediterranean cruise leaves Barcelona on July 25, 2027, aligned with the August 2 eclipse. Carnival Miracle will set sail from Dover on July 29, 2027, for an 11-day journey featuring a
dedicated day at sea for eclipse viewing.
