Strategic Objectives of the Agritourism MoU
The MoU defines four primary strategic objectives connecting domestic farming with visitor markets. First, it promotes collaboration to develop agritourism and ecotourism ventures within the jurisdictions of the Ministry of Agriculture. Second, it enhances joint operational efficiency to establish green belts and strengthen agricultural value chains
around major tourist destinations. Third, a real-time information exchange between agricultural communities and tourism business operators will align supply with demand. Fourth, action plans will maximize the use of locally produced agricultural goods in hotels, restaurants, and tourism establishments nationwide.
Linking Tourism Growth with Rural Sustainability
The partnership aims to link tourism growth with sustainable income for rural farming communities by building green belts and promoting local food. The MoU responds to recommendations from Cambodia’s 19th Government-Private Sector Forum and seeks to keep more tourism revenue within Cambodia’s economy through integrated agriculture and tourism sectors. Both Ministries emphasized that integrating tourism with agriculture creates a mutually
reinforcing economic ecosystem benefiting rural communities.
