Mount Etna’s volcanic eruption on August 11, 2026, forced 98 flight cancellations at Catania-Fontanarossa Airport (CTA) in eastern Sicily. FlightAware recorded 2,204 flight delays and 229 cancellations across Europe that day, with Catania accounting for approximately 43% of all cancellations.
