Porter Airlines canceled a Canada flight last week after a young child refused to sit and buckle the seatbelt on a flight bound for Toronto. The incident occurred on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Victoria International Airport in British Columbia.
The parent and crew made repeated attempts to secure the child in the seatbelt but were unsuccessful. This led the aircraft to return to the terminal at Victoria International Airport to remove the parent, child, and their baggage.
The delay caused the flight to extend beyond Victoria International Airport’s 12:30 a.m. runway closure. As a result, the Toronto-bound flight could
not proceed and was canceled.
Remaining passengers were instructed to disembark from the aircraft. Porter Airlines rebooked these travelers on a flight scheduled for the following day.
Porter Airlines issued an apology to the passengers affected by the cancellation and acknowledged the disruption caused by the incident, according to The Siasat Daily.
