Digital Content Drives Visitor Interest in Van Son and Long Coc Communes
A video titled “Secretary of the Muong Highlands,” created by Nguyen Duy Tu, Party Secretary of Van Son Commune, reached nearly one million views within a single day on Facebook. The video features Tu presenting the natural beauty and cultural heritage of the Muong ethnic community in Van Son, which was formed by merging five former communes.
This digital exposure boosted weekend visitor numbers to the area.
On July 30, 2026, Long Coc Commune launched the “Every Official, Every Resident Is a Tourism Ambassador” campaign alongside its Amazing Long Coc digital channel. The initiative promotes the commune’s tea hills, cultural festivals, local specialties, and OCOP-certified products through online platforms.
Tam Dao National Tourist Area Begins Service Quality Upgrade
In July 2026, a month-long campaign to enhance service quality, sanitation, and accommodation facilities began in Tam Dao National Tourist Area. Provincial Party Secretary Pham Dai Duong attended the launch, which involved cooperation between government bodies, tourism businesses, and residents to improve visitor services and infrastructure.
Phu Tho Sets Ambitious Tourism Targets for 2026 and 2030
Phu Tho
aims to welcome 15 million visitors and generate VND16.3 trillion (US$621 million) in tourism revenue by the end of 2026. Its 2026-2030 strategy targets attracting 20 million visitors annually, achieving 7.8 million overnight stays, and raising tourism revenue to VND26.5 trillion (US$1.01 billion). The plan includes expanding accommodation capacity to over 22,000 rooms and creating 30,000 direct and indirect jobs by 2030.
The province is home to nearly 1,000 historical and cultural sites, including two Special National Relic Sites, six National Treasures, and five UNESCO-recognized cultural heritage elements. Major attractions span the Hung Kings Temple Historic Site, Tam Dao, Tay
Thien, Dai Lai, Thanh Thuy, Mai Chau, Hoa Binh Lake, Xuan Son National Park, Long Coc, and Van Son communes.
Digital Transformation and Regional Cooperation
Digital transformation underpins Phu Tho’s tourism development, with plans to integrate a tourism database into Vietnam’s national system and deploy GIS mapping, QR codes, automated multilingual guides, virtual reality, electronic payments, public Wi-Fi, and broadband infrastructure. The province also participates in the Expanded Northwest tourism cooperation program, coordinating regional tourism websites and developing the Colors of the Northwest tourism fan page.
Training programs for government officials and tourism operators include ChatGPT use, promotional trailer production, and digital communication skills. Artificial
intelligence is applied to destination marketing, and promotional videos are produced to strengthen interprovincial tourism routes.
Diversified Tourism Development Focused on Culture and Sustainability
Phu Tho prioritizes expanding cultural and spiritual tourism, hot mineral spring resorts, ecotourism, community-based tourism, golf and MICE, wellness tourism, agricultural tourism, and the night-time economy. Chairman Tran Duy Dong of the Phu Tho People’s Committee stated tourism development should be built on cultural roots, integrating heritage with the creative economy to generate sustainable value.
