Viking Opens 2028-2029 Ocean Cruise Bookings Featuring New Ships and Itineraries

Viking Launches 2028-29 Ocean Cruise Bookings

Viking has opened bookings for its 2028 and 2029 ocean voyages, marking its largest ocean cruise deployment to date. The offering includes more than 700 new departure dates on 80 voyages visiting 301 ports across 84 countries on six continents. The deployment introduces two new ocean ships, Viking Vega and Viking Leda, and expands Viking’s destination-focused itineraries globally.

New Itineraries Highlight Diverse Destinations

The 2028-2029 schedule features two new itineraries along with expanded departures of the Japan Discovery route. The new Alaskan Fjords & the Inside Passage voyage lasts 15 days from Vancouver to Whittier, exploring Alaska’s remote wilderness and indigenous Tlingit culture. The Mediterranean,

Malta & North Africa itinerary is a 16-day roundtrip from Rome, calling at Valletta, North African shores, Andalusia, Provence, and Corsica. The Japan Discovery itinerary offers a 15-day roundtrip from Tokyo, sailing the Sea of Japan and stopping at Niigata, Hakata (Fukuoka), Sapporo, and Shimizu.

Viking Vega and Viking Leda: New Ocean Ships

Viking Vega, scheduled for delivery in 2028, and Viking Leda, due in 2029, will each have a gross tonnage of 54,300 tons. Both vessels will accommodate 998 guests in 499 staterooms, all featuring private verandas. The ships’ Scandinavian design emphasizes light-filled public areas and al fresco dining.

Voyage Options Span Eight Days to World Voyages

The deployment covers regions including the Mediterranean, Northern

Europe, Alaska, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, the Caribbean, South America, and the Panama Canal. Voyages range from eight days up to extended World Voyages, with options to combine itineraries for longer travel experiences.

Anniversary Sale Offers Booking Incentives

Travelers booking through August 31, 2026, can benefit from Viking’s Anniversary Sale, which includes reduced fares, up to free international airfare on select itineraries, and a $25 deposit across all voyages. This offer targets North American travelers on river, ocean, and expedition cruises.
