The Federal Aviation Administration issued a ground stop at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) around 2 p.m. local time on August 6, 2026, due to a regional FAA equipment outage affecting the airport’s operations.
During the ground stop, departures from MSP were suspended while some limited arrivals were permitted. Planes remained held on the tarmac at MSP. The outage also disrupted several Delta flights arriving at Duluth International Airport (DLH).
Normal flight operations resumed by approximately 4:15 p.m. local time after officials confirmed the equipment issues were resolved. However, the Metropolitan Airports Commission warned that flight impacts were expected to
persist into the evening as airlines managed recovery from the delays.
MSP officials advised passengers to contact their airlines for updated travel information. The Metropolitan Airports Commission stated, “Expect some flight impacts to resume through evening as airlines recover.” Airport authorities confirmed the resumption of some arrivals and departures following the ground stop.
The disruption stemmed from a regional Federal Aviation Administration equipment outage affecting MSP and nearby airports, including Duluth International Airport, prompting the FAA to halt departures temporarily and limit incoming flights at MSP.
