Delta Air Lines has permanently discontinued its nonstop flights from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Houston, Memphis, and St. Louis. The airline had suspended these routes temporarily in June 2026 due to rising fuel costs and operational expenses before confirming their permanent removal as part of routine network planning.
Continued LaGuardia Service and Passenger Guidance
Despite ending nonstop JFK services to these three hubs, Delta will maintain nonstop flights to Houston, Memphis, and St. Louis from LaGuardia Airport (LGA). A Delta spokesperson apologized for the inconvenience caused by these changes and said affected passengers will be contacted directly to discuss alternative travel options including
rerouting through LGA or refunds. Travelers are encouraged to check their itineraries via the Fly Delta app or online, as automatic updates will be provided. Passengers should also consider differences in ground transportation and parking when rerouted from JFK to LaGuardia.
New Nonstop Flight from Raleigh-Durham to Southwest Florida
As part of network adjustments, Delta will introduce a new nonstop service connecting Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) in North Carolina to Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) near Fort Myers. The route will launch on November 21, 2026, ahead of the Thanksgiving travel period. Service on this route will be operated using a Bombardier CRJ-900 regional jet, expanding Delta’s offerings
from the fast-growing Raleigh-Durham market.
Introduction of Basic Fares for Premium Seating
Delta has also rolled out Basic fares for premium cabin seats, providing lower-cost options for first class and business class travelers. Joe Esposito, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer of Delta, stated, “This expansion gives customers more ways to choose the Delta experience that best fits their trip, and a new way to access our premium tier products.” These Basic fares offer access to premium features such as Zone 1 boarding and lie-flat seats on select aircraft, at savings of up to $200 compared to standard first-class tickets.
