On 26 July 2026, London Gatwick Airport, Britain’s second busiest airport and a major hub for budget airlines such as EasyJet, experienced a water supply disruption affecting both terminals. The issue originated from a power outage at a water treatment facility managed by SES Water in the Horley area near the airport.
The outage forced the closure of multiple airport restaurants and rendered passenger amenities unusable, including flushing toilets, washing hands, accessing hot drinks, and refilling water bottles. To mitigate the impact, bottled water was distributed to passengers and staff, and contingency measures were implemented to ensure passenger welfare.

Water confirmed the power outage at their treatment facility caused low water pressure and a temporary loss of supply affecting parts of the area, including the airport. SES Water and Gatwick Airport are working closely to restore normal water services.
Despite these disruptions to passenger services, flight operations at London Gatwick Airport continued unaffected. Gatwick Airport issued a statement: “A water issue in the Horley area is causing disruption at the airport this morning. The problem is affecting water supply in both terminals and is currently under investigation.” They added, “Bottled water is being handed out to passengers and staff,
and other contingency measures are being put in place to ensure the welfare of our passengers.” SES Water acknowledged the situation and confirmed ongoing collaboration with the airport to resolve the issue.
