First Half 2026 Arrivals by Market
Total tourist arrivals in Cyprus from January to June 2026 reached 1,656,015, down 10.1% from 1,843,013 in the same period of 2025 but up 1.65% compared to 1,652,475 in the first half of 2024. The United Kingdom remained the largest source market
with 539,415 arrivals in the first half of 2026, down 13.8% from 626,004 in 2025. Israeli arrivals for the same period decreased 8.6% to 192,037 from 210,220 in 2025 despite the June surge. Other European markets showed varied trends with Poland recording a 4.8% increase to 165,731 arrivals, Germany falling 6.9% to 106,537, Greece dropping 7.5% to 78,811, and Sweden declining approximately 3% to 64,391.
Official Response on Tourism Stabilization
Deputy Minister of Tourism Kostas Koumis stated the June arrivals “confirm that our country’s tourism has returned to a stable trajectory, as the overall performance of the month is considered satisfactory under the circumstances.” He
emphasized that despite challenges, the tourism sector is stabilizing as reflected by the official statistics provided by CySTAT.
Context of Israeli Tourist Impact Amid Regional Challenges
The sharp increase in Israeli tourist arrivals in June 2026 played a significant role in mitigating losses caused by regional instability in the Middle East. This rebound in Israeli visitors helped contain earlier declines seen in the preceding month and the first half of the year compared to 2025.
Additional Tourism Markets and Arrival Statistics
Other notable source countries in the top ten markets during the first half of 2026 included Romania with 35,418 arrivals, Austria with 28,519, Hungary with 23,494, and France with 22,970 visitors. Meanwhile, Cyprus
recorded zero arrivals from thirteen countries in this period.
Overall, the Deputy Ministry of Tourism and CySTAT consider the travel performance through June 2026 satisfactory given the current external factors affecting the region.
