Tourist arrivals in Syria rose by 111% during the first half of 2026 compared to the same period in 2025, reaching 3.52 million visitors, Syrian authorities reported. This compares to 1.67 million visitors recorded in the first six months of 2025. The number of tourists from non-Arab countries increased by 448%, while arrivals from Arab countries rose by 107% over the same timeframe.
Growth Driven by Confidence and Demand
Officials at the Statistics Authority within Syria’s Ministry of Tourism linked the surge in arrivals to growing confidence in Syria as a travel destination. They noted the rising regional and international demand contributed to the increase in
visitor numbers during the period January to June 2026.
