Syria received 3.52 million visitors during the first six months of 2026, marking a 111% increase compared to 1.67 million in the same period of 2025, according to the Statistics Authority at Syria’s Ministry of Tourism.
Tourist Arrivals by Region
The number of tourists arriving from non-Arab countries grew by 448% year over year. Meanwhile, arrivals from Arab countries increased by 107% in the first half of 2026 compared to the first half of 2025.
Official Assessment of Tourism Growth
Officials from Syria’s Statistics Authority released the data on 22 July 2026. They attributed the sharp rise in tourist numbers to increasing confidence in Syria as a travel destination.
Growth also reflects growing regional and international demand for travel to the country, highlighting a significant rebound in Syria’s tourism sector during early 2026.
