Two firefighters died on July 21, 2026, while responding to a building fire in Mérignac, a suburb of Bordeaux located near Bordeaux Airport in southwest France.

Interior Minister Laurent Nunez informed lawmakers of the firefighters’ deaths during a session of the National Assembly. Bordeaux Airport confirmed on its official website that flight delays were occurring due to the nearby fire.
