Vietnam received an estimated 1.68 million international visitors in June 2026, bringing total arrivals in the first half of the year to 12.3 million, a 14.9% increase from the same period last year. The country is targeting 25 million international arrivals and tourism revenue of VND1.125 quadrillion ($43 billion) for the full year.

Tourism Growth Driven by Visa Policy and Market Expansion

Vietnam’s tourism growth in early 2026 has been supported by more favorable visa policies, ongoing tourism promotion, and the expansion of key source markets. These factors contributed to the year-over-year increase in international arrivals, according to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism.

Second-Half Strategy Focuses on Policy, Market Development, and Digital Transformation

Nguyen Trung Khanh, Director General

of the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, outlined the strategy for the second half of 2026. The plan emphasizes reforms of tourism policies, development of international markets, and advancements in digital transformation.

Policy reforms will aim to strengthen the national framework for tourism development, positioning tourism as a key economic sector. The authority also seeks to enhance cooperation among airlines, travel companies, and accommodation providers to support inbound demand.

Digital transformation initiatives include integrating tourism databases with the national population database and updating tourism statistics to meet international standards. These measures are designed to improve data accuracy and facilitate informed

decision-making in tourism management.
