The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) has issued a caution regarding the potential effects of Europe’s recently implemented Entry/Exit System (EES) on visitor arrivals. According to the Council’s analysis, processing delays at border controls caused by the new system could put up to 41 million visitors’ arrivals at risk.
Delays related to the EES have been projected to last as long as three hours at some European borders. Such extended waiting times may cause substantial disruption for travelers entering Europe, impacting the overall flow of tourism arrivals across the region.
