The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) has highlighted a potential risk to visitor arrivals across Europe if delays triggered by the European Entry-Exit System (EES) border controls reach three hours. Their analysis estimates that such delays could put as many as 41 million arrivals across EU entry points at risk.

Implementation of the EES is projected to cause wait times of up to three hours at various border control locations within the European Union. This extended processing time at external borders could result in significant congestion and longer queues for travelers entering the region.
