Norwegian Cruise Line has discontinued Norwegian Viva cruises departing from Puerto Rico for nearly nine months, representing a significant change to the ship’s deployment in the Caribbean region.
Following this cancellation, Norwegian Viva is set to be repositioned with Miami as its homeport, a status planned to remain in place through 2028.
Shift in Caribbean Cruise Operations
This move signals a strategic adjustment in Norwegian Cruise Line’s itinerary organization, with a pronounced shift toward expanding its presence in Miami and the Bahamas, while withdrawing from Puerto Rico’s San Juan as a base for Norwegian Viva operations.
Those booked on Norwegian Viva cruises originally scheduled from
Puerto Rico will need to modify their travel arrangements to embark from Miami instead, reflecting the cruise line’s changed focus and routing plans.
