The African Union recently held the joint 9th session of the Specialized Technical Committee (STC) on Finance, Monetary Affairs, Economic Planning and Integration together with the 5th session of the STC on Trade, Tourism, Industry and Minerals. These meetings brought together committee members tasked with overseeing critical sectors of the continent’s economic and developmental agenda.

Coordination of Key Economic Sectors

The combined sessions aimed to foster collaboration and policy alignment across finance, monetary affairs, economic planning, trade, tourism, industry, and mineral resource management. Bringing the committees together allowed for a comprehensive review and coordination of approaches affecting multiple aspects of African economic integration and development

strategies.

While details on specific decisions or resolutions from these sessions were not released, the assembly highlighted the ongoing efforts within the African Union to synchronize specialized technical committees in addressing cross-sectoral challenges.
