The Maldives tourism sector has recorded a 2.6 percent growth in visitor arrivals in 2026, following a period of travel disturbances caused by geopolitical tensions in the Middle East region. This increase marks an early sign of recovery for the island destination after several months affected by regional instability.

The country joins a group of destinations exhibiting a gradual resurgence in tourism activities alongside other nations recovering from conflicts in the West Asia area.
