Authorities in Spain have confirmed a hantavirus infection in a passenger who was evacuated from the MV Hondius cruise ship. This case followed symptoms appearing among several individuals who had recently disembarked, raising concern over the presence of the virus linked to the vessel.

Cruise Ship Quarantine and Response

In response to the situation, health officials ordered the MV Hondius to undergo a thorough quarantine and disinfection process while docked in Spain. The measures were put in place to contain potential further transmission and to ensure the safety of subsequent voyages.

Health authorities are continuing to monitor the hantavirus outbreak associated with the ship. They

advise cruise travelers to remain alert to health advisories when embarking or disembarking in locations where outbreaks have been reported.
